Our highly qualified staff excels in working with seniors in a caring and comfortable atmosphere.
What is a Geriatric Certified Specialist? The specialist certification program was established in 1978 by the American Physical Therapy Association. The purpose of the program is to identify physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge and experience in their area of expertise. The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) coordinates and oversees the specialist certification process.
What is a Certified Expert in Exercise for the Aging Adult? Evidence for the benefits of effective exercise programs for the full spectrum of aging adults is overwhelmingly positive. The unique role of the physical therapist in providing these programs is unequivocal. Physical therapists can incorporate evidence into practice in order to appropriately examine and provide the quality of exercise that will yield optimal benefits for the aging adult. The Section on Geriatrics has adopted the position that physical therapists should be the exercise experts for aging adults.
